Our nursery was filled with excitement and imagination as we celebrated World Book Day. The children arrived dressed in a wonderful variety of fantastic costumes, proudly showing off their favourite storybook characters. From the moment they came through the door, there was a real buzz as the children shared who they were dressed as and enjoyed stepping into the role of their characters throughout the day. It was lovely to see their confidence and creativity shine as they acted out stories, joined in with themed activities and talked about their favourite books with their friends.
The staff also joined in the fun by dressing up as characters and objects from the much-loved story The Hungry Caterpillar. The children were delighted as they recognised the different parts of the story brought to life around the nursery. Seeing the familiar characters and items from the book sparked lots of conversations about the story, the foods the caterpillar eats and the beautiful butterfly at the end.
Throughout the day the children enjoyed sharing stories together, taking part in book-themed activities and celebrating their love of reading. It was a wonderful day that highlighted how stories can inspire imagination, creativity and a love of books from an early age.
